2015 Girl Scout Cookie Rally

By: LGG Reporter Nia H.

January 2015, I attended this year’s Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Cookie Rally, and needless to say I had tons of fun. This was my first Cookie Rally experience, and I hope to have many more in my years of Girl Scouts. Filled with games, trivia, fun booths, activities, even a Cookie University, this is an event I would recommend for all Girl Scouts, of any age or level.  There’s plenty to experience!

Cookie University:

For older girls, you would get the chance to participate in three different hour-long classes to earn your Cookie Degree and graduate. What did these classes offer you ask? You could participate in Marketing 101, Communications 101, and Graphic Design 101. These classes are prep for booth and door-to-door sales.

Happy 40th Birthday Samoa!

Have you ever seen a birthday party for a cookie? At the Rally, we supported the 40th birthday of one of our beloved cookies, the Samoa. Complete with coconut and chocolate, the Samoa had a fun filled birthday. Here, we decorated party hats of any color, including a sticker with our goal for sales this year. Happy Birthday Samoa! May you bake a long time!!

Extreme Makeover: Cookie Booth Edition

Ready to decorate your booth for sales? Here, you were given supplies and a task: to make over a table for cookie booth sales. Creativity ran wild, giving girls the opportunity to create a cookie booth of their own design. The prize? A band that would help you to get you badge at the end of the event!

Trefoil Balance

Can you inch a cookie from your forehead and into your mouth? Here was your opportunity! A Trefoil was placed upon you forehead, and the struggle began to get it from there and into your mouth. I don’t know how dogs do it! I certainly couldn’t get it into my mouth but the end result was pretty fun, a Trefoil, yours for the eating.

Knock Knock!

How much do you know about cookies when you go selling Girl Scout Cookies door-to-door? Are you prepared to answer some questions on your quest for a sale? Here, they simulated you approaching a very inquisitive customer, and it was your job to answer the questions in exchange for a band for your future badge. Some tough questions were given (I didn’t know Trefoils, Rah Rah Raisin, and Thin mints were our only nut free cookies!!), but perseverance and persistence got you through.

Top Chef

In need of a snack break? Here, you were given the opportunity to get a bit of some of your favorite candies, cookies, and smiley fish crackers. (Yum. One of my favorite parts.)

Off to the Cookie Races

How fast can you and a team fill out cookie orders? Here, you’re given one task, fill as many orders as you can and try to end up with more than the other team! Starting at one end, you and your crew would race to the other and fill your cookie orders. The team with the most cookies wins!

Giant Cookie Boxes

No, this was not an activity but these were pretty cool. I’m about 5”6 and to scale, these cookie boxes went up to my chest. (Imagine how many cookies you could fit in these boxes.)
