On November 4th 2012, Six Flags Over Georgia opened its doors to Girl Scouts across the Southeastern United States. From 10 o’clock in the morning to 6 o’clock in the evening, Girl Scouts ventured through Six Flags enjoying the many roller coasters, Girl Scout booths and attractions, and eateries.

Planned and operated by the Girl Scout Council of Greater Atlanta, “Girlapalooza”, Beth Messer, the Director of Girl Leadership Experience, noted, “is our 100th anniversary celebration for our girls and volunteers.” Messer also expressed that “[she was] proud to be part of this momentous celebration. I’ve seen hundreds of girls today smiling and having a good time.”

Despite the rain, the above-mentioned fun was not dampened in the slightest. Girls still raced across the park, rushing to get to the next ride and bask in the dips and turns of the high-speed coasters. Not only were there the Six Flags rides, but also a petting zoo featuring miniature horses, chickens, rabbits, and other animals was hosted in one of the pavilions. In the same area, the Lime Green Giraffe staff set up an area where Girl Scout Daisy Scouts and Girl Scout Brownie Scouts could complete steps to earn specific badges. Smiles and laughter were traded across the SWAPS stations and during the live performances featuring Matty B, Lindee Link, and SAVVY.

I think Girlapalooza was a rousing success for all that participated!
