I have been an only child all of my life but now I have a twin! I was one of 10 Girl Scouts who became part of the Girl Scouts Forever Green Twinning Project, sponsored by Alcoa. Each of us in the group was assigned a UK Girl Guide as our twinning partner. My Girl Guide is Georgia and we are a great team. We are both really outgoing, love cooking and love to let our personalities shine.
This summer the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta team traveled to Norwich, England and spent a week getting to know the country and our twins. We cleaned a river and picked up trash. By chance timing, we visited Buckingham Palace the day after the new prince was born!
In August the UK girls visited Atlanta and stayed at Camp Timber Ridge. We had a huge event called Forever Green Action Day and we raised awareness of the environment and how we should protect it. Georgia and I presented an ecological footprint game. Other stations included a trash to treasure station where girls created recyclable art and another station where girls took old t-shirts and created cool bags out of them. We also decorated rain barrels that were placed around camp for water conservation.
I learned so much by spending time with the Girl Guides and spending time in their country that I am now thinking of projects we can create in other parts of the world. I plan to run for President of Girl Scouts Atlanta and my theme will be Girl Scouts Go Global. There is a whole world out there for us to share our Girl Scouts story.
