My experiences have shaped me, in particular my upbringing as a disabled homeschooler. My classes were unique because I got to steer the way they went after I grew up a little and understood how they worked. Now I’m excited to look at what’s next, but let’s look back at my younger years so you can get to know who I am.

A lot of people ask why my parents decided to homeschool me. I was born with a form of dwarfism which makes me small and bones that aren’t shaped just right which led to surgeries. My parents were concerned that because of my disability I would be bullied and discriminated against. Even with my parents’ protection some people still are rude but because of them I learned who my friends are and what matters to me. You may be wondering if we were at home how could I make friends?

I wasn’t home for a lot of my elementary and middle school years, up until 2020 me and the local homeschool groups would go out to museums, parks, and anywhere we could learn things, like history at our local museums and math by being the ones doing the bill at a restaurant. After 2020 things were different. I was a teen and sadly my homeschool group had become disconnected but I followed some friends into what we call a co-op, where parents or local adults teach classes on much smaller personal levels. That is where I learned ASL and Art while I did the rest of my courses on digital learning programs. But now as I am in my senior year, where do I want to go next?

I plan to go to college and get either an associates degree or a bachelor’s. If I go for the associates I’ll go for a business degree and if I go for a bachelors I’ll do a major in either teaching or literature, and of course a minor in business. At this time I can’t decide which is more important to me, being a teacher or owning a small bookstore. Because I love books so much and want to be an author, but that won’t pay the bills so my other passions are teaching or the sharing of books.

Now you know me, I'm Wren H a disabled homeschooler who wants to follow their dreams of being an author and wants to share my passion for books and writing with the world.
