By utilizing simple household ingredients and harvesting things from the earth, a remedy can be made for almost anything.

This article will show different DIY’s on organic ways to make face masks, healthy hair tips, lip and body scrubs, and how to help a sore throat. As always, make sure to check the ingredients to check for potential allergies before making any of these recipes!

  1. Facemasks

This facemask recipe has been one that has been in my family for generations, and my Grandma has glowing skin, so I’ll take her word for all of the great benefits!

  • A pinch of turmeric

  • A squirt / spoon of honey

  • A tbsp of plain yogurt (Greek preferred)

  • Mix all the ingredients together

  • Apply evenly on face

  • Leave on 10 minutes

  • Rinse of with warm water

Some benefits to this mask include skin hydration from the honey and yogurt, and brightening from the turmeric. This mask is good for all skin types whether it’s oily, dry, or mixed skin combo.

Happy masking!

  1. Healthy hair tips

If shiny, healthy hair is the goal, this simple yet effective concoction will be your best friend.

  • Coconut oil

  • Olive oil or castor oil

(measure with your heart - amount will vary depending on hair length)

  • Take some coconut oil and massage into scalp

  • Take a small amount of coconut oil this time and apply on rest of hair

  • Grab your choice of olive or castor oil and rub only on bottom half of hair

  • Leave on for an hour

  • Rinse before doing your regular hair wash routine

Using this hair mask before you wash your hair will provide immediate benefits such as incredibly soft hair, but using this consistently will help to repair split ends and thicken hair too.

Happy hair masking!

  1. Lip and body scrub

This scrub is an all over solution from crusty lips to cracked elbows.

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon coffee

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • Mix all the ingredients together

  • Rub in gentle circular motions for 1 minute on area dry areas

(lips, knees, elbows…)

  • Rinse off with warm water

By providing hydration and getting rid of flaky skin, you’ll be left with hydrated smooth skin after rinsing. Remember if you're using this as an all over body scrub, proportions can always be sized up.

Happy scrubbing!

  1. Sore throat remedy

This remedy might be the simplest of them all, and with the greatest benefits because it can greatly make the symptoms of acold better.

  • 2 tablespoons of honey

  • Cup of hot water

  • Heat water for about 40 seconds in microwave

  • After heating, mix in honey until incorporated into water

  • Drink!

Honey provides soothing benefits for calming inflammation while hot water clears sinuses. Drinking this when you have a cold is a simple way to help get better but drinking this while you’re not sick is just a healthy habit!

Happy drinking!

These are all natural remedies that can be made with ingredients commonly found in the house. I hope you find this article useful and put these tips to use!
