Are you always bored?

Well, I have the thing for you!

You should make a Boredom Buster Jar!

Here is what you will need:

  • Markers

  • Popsicle sticks

  • A can/jar

  • Paper

  • Scissors

  • Optional: stickers

And, here are the steps to make your jar:

  1. Write a boredom buster activity on each popsicle stick (check out the other article “50 Things To Do When You Are Bored” by Evelyn H. and Maggie E. for ideas).

  2. Brainstorm your categories (ex. “outdoors” “active” “crafts” etc.).

  3. Cut out a piece of paper (it must be able to fit on your jar/can).

  4. Take out your markers and choose the colors for your categories (ex. green for “outdoors,” red for “active,” yellow for “crafts,” etc.).

  5. Use the markers and the paper that you cut, to make a key, by coloring a little dot, shape, scribble, etc. in one of the category colors. Then next to it, write the name for the category. Continue this for all of your categories.

  6. Using the markers, color the tip of each popsicle stick the color of that category. For example, if one of my categories is “outside”, and my category color for “outside” is green, then one of my popsicle sticks might be “ride my bike” with a green tip.

  7. Glue the key onto your jar/can.

  8. If you want, you can decorate your jar/can with stickers.

  9. Enjoy! You have now made your very own “Boredom Buster Jar!”
